Connect a domain with nameservers
How to connect your site by replacing the 4 nameservers at your domain registrar with Weekerp's values. You don't need to add any records yourself.
The nameserver method moves your domain's DNS management to Weekerp. Once it is set up, everything after that gets simpler, so it is the method we recommend most. Weekerp adds the security certificate and primary address records itself, so there are no records for you to add.
This process continues after the primary address step in Add a site.
1. Copy over the records you use now
The We will copy your domain records before you change nameservers screen is filled with the records Weekerp found.
- Check that every record you use now, such as mail (MX) and subdomains, is in the list.
- For any missing record, enter the type, name, and value in the input row at the top and click Add.
- Remove rows you don't use with Remove.
- Click That's everything.
Records not in this list disappear the moment you change nameservers. Be especially careful with mail records: if they are missing, your mail stops working.
If you don't know where to see your current records, click your provider (Gabia, Cafe24, Whois, AWS Route53, etc.) under How to check by provider on the right side of the screen.
2. Change your nameservers
The Point your nameservers to Weekerp screen shows 4 nameservers. The values differ for each domain.
- Click Copy on each row to copy the value.
- Log in where you bought the domain (your registrar) and open the nameserver settings. You can go there directly from How to change it by registrar on the right side of the screen.
- Delete the existing nameservers, enter all 4 Weekerp nameservers, and save.
The screen checks for the change on its own every few seconds. You can close this screen. Once confirmed, ✅ Nameserver change confirmed. appears and the Next step button becomes available.
3. Verify the connection
Click Next step to move on to connection verification. It runs automatically in this order: nameserver change check → security certificate issuance → site connection check.
How long does it take?
- Nameserver changes can take from a few minutes up to one day depending on the registrar, but they usually complete within 5 minutes.
- After the nameservers take effect, certificate issuance and site connection usually finish within 1 minute.
After connecting
Weekerp now manages your DNS. Change records such as mail and subdomains under Sites > Domain. Changes made at your old provider won't take effect. Manage DNS records
If changing nameservers is hard
Click Is changing nameservers hard? You can connect with a CNAME instead. on the screen to switch to the record method. Connect a domain with records (CNAME)
